Resilient parents and caregivers have empathy for themselves and others and can keep a positive attitude\, solve problems creatively and take life’s events in stride. This training will help participants define and recognize signs of parental resilience\, identify actions that can help build the resilience of parents they work with\, share examples of ways to value and support parents\, and to respond to families in crises. This training is one in a seven-part series from the course entitled Bringing the Protective Factors Framework to Life in Your Work. The training will be led by Brenda Vasquez\, a Parent Educator with the Children’s Center of Northwest NC. DESCRIPTION:Participants will receive an overview of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) giving them the knowledge to identify SIDS risk factors and describe ways to reduce the risk of SIDS in child care. The national standards for sleep safety will be presented and resources will be shared for both child care providers and parents. Topics include NC SIDS Laws\, child care licensing rules for safe sleep\, as well as how to develop a safe sleep policy.
