Participants will be introduced to ideas/activities that relate to Thanksgiving and Christmas. They will be able to create simple crafts that can be used in their classrooms.
Participants will become certified in Red Cross approved basic adult, child, and infant CPR and First Aid. The primary purpose of this training is to help participants recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac, breathing, and first aid emergencies. The training is designed to teach participants the knowledge and skills needed to give immediate care to an injured or ill person and decide whether advanced medical care is needed.
Participants will receive an overview of child abuse and Shaken Baby Syndrome (SBS). They will learn the dangers of SBS and how to prevent it. Learning outcomes for child maltreatment include identifying outward signs of abuse and neglect, discussing family and environmental situations that may trigger abuse, stating ways to prevent abuse from occurring in child care settings, and listing the caregiver’s role in reporting suspected abuse/neglect.
Participants will learn why nutrition is so important to young children. They will explain the components of a child care setting that promotes healthy eating, describe the role of the child care staff in helping shape healthy eating behaviors in children, and list ideas staff can use in the classroom to help children promote healthy habits.
