Novant Health First Steps provides postpartum support to new moms and families who deliver a baby at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center.
Registered nurses will follow-up with families by phone between 1 and 3 weeks after a baby is born to check on how the family is adjusting, check on mom and babies’ health, and to provide education. The nurse will also make referrals for families to various community agencies if needed. A scheduler for the program will come to your hospital room after delivery to schedule your postpartum phone call.

The Care Management Program formerly OBCM promotes healthy mothers and healthy babies and provides care management services for high-risk women during pregnancy through 2 months after delivery. Formerly CC4C Care Coordination for Children is also housed under Care Management as CMARC. CMARC provides referral and coordination of services for children birth to age 5 who are at risk for developmental delay, long-term stressful situations, and special health care needs.

The Yadkin County Human Services Agency is comprised of the Women, Infant, and Children (WIC) Division, the Medical Clinic (*see Health and Developmental Services page), and the Social Services Division. The Social Services Division includes such programs as Food & Nutrition, Medicaid, Child Support, Child Care Subsidy, Emergency Intake, Work First, Adult Services, and Child Welfare Services. The agency also houses Environmental Health (213 East Elm Street; Yadkinville) which permits both old and new septic systems and inspects all food service and lodging facilities, as well as child care facilities, nursing homes, and public swimming pools in the county. A Child Care Health Consultant is also employed through the agency.
