Participants will receive an overview of sudden infant death syndrome, identify risk factors and describe ways to reduce the risk of SIDS in child care. The national standards for sleep safety will be presented and resources will be shared for both child care providers and parents. Topics include NC SIDS Laws, child care licensing rules for safe sleep, as well as how to develop a safe sleep policy. Key messages of this training include engaging in safe sleep practices and creating a safe sleep environment for infants and toddlers.
Young children are not meant to sit still. Children move and explore the world around them. In this training, we will learn why children are wired for movement. We will talk about how children learn better if movement is involved. This training will explain how to harness this desire for movement and use it to teach the children we serve. By the end of the training, you will create your own gross or fine motor activity for an infant, toddler, or preschooler classroom.
Participants will become certified in Red Cross approved basic adult, child, and infant CPR and First Aid. The primary purpose of this training is to help participants recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac, breathing, and first aid emergencies. The training is designed to teach participants the knowledge and skills needed to give immediate care to an injured or ill person and decide whether advanced medical care is needed.
Each year, you may receive students that have additional support needs. These needs vary from child to child and vary year to year. You never know what additional support your students will have until the beginning of each school year. In this training, you will learn how to accommodate all disabilities to create an inclusive classroom for everyone. We will cover how to make each activity center or learning area inclusive for all the children you teach. You will learn simple ways to adjust activities or learning areas to meet the needs of all.
